I agree with the general intent, but there is a bit of an exaggeration here. The "constant turmoil" on countries like UK and even France is relative and those countries are, in general, still much better places to live than all authoritarian countries mentioned (Singapore is the only one up for discussion, but is a big exception to the dictatorship rule in many aspects).

Also, I should say that, even though democracy is definitely flawed on Latin countries, being South American myself I can see how far more beneficial is democracy there, even with high corruption levels. Venezuela used to be a corrupt democracy, problematic enough to be used by someone from afar as an example of "failed democracy" but where people lived and not that rarely also thrived. Now it is basically gone, nobody thrives unless they have really tight ties with government.
