I know you made a joke, and you wanted it to be true because you prefer semicolons, but I wanted to point out one thing to be clear: semicolons are optional in JS. Thing is, as much as many other things on the language -- and even its creator Brendan Eich agrees -- this was rushed and prone to small exceptions like the one you mention. Using Prettier or ESLint and this issue disappears, plus many others.
