Infer a level of truthness for something is a hard exercise as usually nuances are everywhere, making things less of a duality black/white and more of a "shades of grey" situation, on a fuzzy scale from absolute lie to absolute truth that is often unquantifiable in practice. Usually, we have a "threshold" for this scale to say something is true or not, but there are frequently too many factors to mind everything.
Pursuing absolute truths can be a dangerous exercise as we try to turn things from those shades of grey into black and white to fit our beliefs. Not that we shouldn't do it (our minds have a tendency to simplify and will do it anyway) but we should take care about what we are selectively ignoring, exaggerating and cherry-picking along the way.
